Ranthambhore Fort is a magnificent fort erected by a ruler belonging to the Chauhan Royal family located in Ranthambhore in Rajasthan. Ranthambore Fort has been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is an important Hill Fort of Rajasthan. The fort is surrounded by a massive wall and has strong stone pathways and staircases that lead to the top portion of the structure. As you trek upwards; do notice the traditional Rajasthani architecture with massive gates, pillars, domes, palace and temples. The reserve is home to some birds and animals. Tourists will usually find a lot of monkeys in and around the fort; however, if you are lucky, you may also be presented with the beautiful peacocks living in the National Park.

The temple is the oldest one in the state of Rajasthan and is home to the iconic statue of a three-eyed Ganesh. The temple much like the fort that surrounds it was built by King Rao Hammir Deo Chauhan. It plays host to pilgrims from around the world throughout the year.

  • By Air – Sanganer Airport in Jaipur is the nearest airport to reach Ranthambhore Fort. By hiring a private taxi or car you can easily reach Ranthambhore Fort from the airport. It is only 180km away.
  • By Road- There is a good facility of State operated buses which makes the journey to Ranthambhore Fort possible. You will get buses from Jaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur and Ajmer.
  • By Train- Sawai Madhopur is the nearest railway station to reach Ranthambhore Fort. From the station, hire any taxi or cab. It is only 10 km away from Ranthambore Fort.
